Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Authorities reported they were alerted by a man who noticed a car in Hanau smeared with red-colored liquid

Approximately fifty automobiles have been covered with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.

Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they announced in a official communication.

Law enforcement report they were notified during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish liquid.

The fluid had been drawn in the form of a swastika, they stated.

Officers then discovered multiple other vandalized cars and residential walls in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement report initial examinations show the fluid was likely human blood.

"There is still no clue as to where it came from; authorities are not yet cognizant of any harm in relation with the event," they commented.

Municipal representatives said they were trying "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the residents for information.

A senior official stated the incident left him speechless and required to be solved rapidly.

"This incident strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the pain of the extremist violent incident five years ago," he posted on social media, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
