Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hardcourt

A comeback the Russian player secured his first title for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has had a torrid period, winning just one win at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in specific - led to him falling of the top ten and eventually separating with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently improved in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought three-set win over opponent Corentin Moutet.

It is Medvedev's first championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface after spring of that year.

Victory also indicates Medvedev has secured 21 championships at 21 various tournaments.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my two daughters together, so to secure a championship is really nice," stated world number 14 Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my child her name, because the first title I got when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had lost his previous six championship matches, featuring in that event previously this season.

Medvedev's counter-punching play style and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted observers to doubt if his capacity to compete at the elite level was finished.

Yet the athlete has made changes in the past month, attempting to advance forward and perform assertively, reinforced by an better serving game.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, taking four of the last five points to take the lead.

Both players swapped break points in the following set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to force a final set.

He defended 4 early-game chances in a close deciding set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched the win with a shot at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to control a return after over two and a half hours.
